The most wonderful time of year is here and I'm so excited to fill our home with Christmas cheer! I adore the modern farmhouse aesthetic and this year we added simple holiday touches inspired by the Nordic hygge style of cozy living to our home. Our dining room boasts a neutral color palette of whites, creams and natural wood tones, so we decided to ad in some subtle pops of red for this holiday gathering. The end result is a classic farmhouse Christmas look that feels warm and welcoming.

Each year on Christmas morning we gather with our immediate family to enjoy a big brunch together. I love hosting and always sprinkle our house with special touches to show everyone how much they're loved.

Our home boasts a modern farmhouse style, which lends itself to a warm and cozy environment; perfect for the Christmas season.

This year we added a few Nordic-inspired touches by adding pops of red, greenery and natural wood tones throughout our dining room.

Medium basswood canvases were used to create a Joy Farmhouse Christmas Sign, which hung above our fireplace.

The Joy Farmhouse Christmas Sign coordinated with the Wood Bead Snowflake Sign that sat atop our mantle. Our family loved the charm both signs added to our existing Christmas decorations.

Red and white wool felt pom poms were strung onto red baker's twine and sat on top of fresh greenery on our mantle. Natural Pinecones and white washed unfinished wood nutcrackers and snowmen lined the top of the mantle as well.

Our fireplace mantle was cozied up thanks to the natural wood slices we added to a piece of plywood in the firebox. The overall look, combined with our stockings, provided a homey feel to the room.

We placed our Christmas tree on a chippy white table in the corner of our dining room that stood tall over our presents. Underneath our tree we placed a wood-stained DIY Unfinished Wood Sleigh. A sweet little mini white favor box was tucked into the sleigh and then tied up with red baker's twine. The gift was topped with a mini boxwood wreath, which matched the wreath that embellished the DIY Unfinished Wood Sleigh.

Our brown paper packages were tied up with pretty red and white ribbon. A few were dressed up with boxwood wreaths made out of boxwood ribbon. I adore how the Fresh Cut Christmas Trees Sign looked on the shelf next to our gifts.

The Tablescape

I love mini Christmas trees and couldn't resist adding one tucked into a galvanized pot to the center of our dining table. The tree sat atop a large birch centerpiece to tie in with the rustic touches in the room.

Mini pinecones were hot glued to the tree to coordinate with the other pinecones sprinkled throughout our decor.

We created a simple garland runner by layering pinecones on snowy pine picks that ran down the center of the table.

White washed nutcracker ornaments and unfinished wood snowmen were added to the table for a playful touch.

The Place Settings

Each place setting was created by layering a red and white striped linen napkin between a black scalloped plate and an adorable reindeer dinner plate. Red forks sat atop the cutest Christmas tree shaped napkins to the left of each setting, while glass milk bottles filled with egg nog sat to the right. Each milk bottle was wrapped with red and white ribbon with a red straw tucked into the side.

Adorable personalized Canvas Star Ornaments sat next to each place setting. This simple craft made for the perfect place card but also doubles as a special keepsake to commemorate the holiday spent together. I loved how the greenery on the ornaments coordinated with the boxwood wreaths we created to add to each of our milk bottles. You can find the steps to create your own Canvas Star Ornaments.

A Bevvy of Yummy Brunch Bites

We served an assortment of baked goods to ensure no one went hungry during our Christmas brunch. Delectable fruit and yogurt parfaits were served in clear tumblers. The cups looked festive with white spoons tied to each with red and white striped ribbon. They were arranged on a clear tray, which was spray painted white.

We dressed each end of our buffet with matching white flameless candles, which stood tall on small birch pillars next to white washed nutcracker ornaments. The decor also consisted of DIY Unfinished Wood Sleds, stained a rich brown, topped with bottle brush trees.

A simple and sweet small spruce wreath was just the right touch hanging from red and white ribbon over our buffet. Crowd-pleasing chocolate croissants and a delicious cheesy egg and hash brown casserole were also served to satisfy guests' taste buds.

The left side of our buffet boasted a gorgeous pair of Wood Christmas Candles that further enhanced the Nordic farmhouse vibe of our gathering.

Whether you celebrate the holidays with a large group or keep it simple with close family, I hope you've found some inspiration to host your own Christmas brunch this year!
