Lovely Valentine’s Day Kids Lunch Ideas

Lovely Valentine’s Day Kids Lunch Ideas

For my little girl’s Valentine’s Play Date Party, most of the kids were coming straight from preschool and were hungry for lunch. Rather than just load them up on candy and cookies, I knew the other moms would thank me for a healthy lunch– of course with some holiday flair. I came up with these easy sandwiches, served with other nutritious snacks and some red cream soda and it was a hit!

All you need for the sandwiches is your favorite bread, peanut butter, honey, and a heart-shaped cookie cutter.

If her classmates are anything like my little girl, they aren't fans of crust so a cookie cutter was the perfect solution. I put them in lunch baggies to stay fresh for the kids. I came up with a silly name for them that the kids thought was huh-larious! "Honey You (Peanut) Butter My Bread Sandwiches".  Next up, the soda. Yes, I was brave to give toddlers red cream soda, but I knew it would be such a special treat. I made the bottles look festive by wrapping them in two layered doilies: the Mini Valentines Heart Doilies and the White Doilies. I double wrapped Hot Pink Baker's Twine around them and I mean, so cute, right?  These would also be the perfect Valentine's gift for neighbors or friends!  The red polka dot straws were the cutest touch. I paired the sandwiches and soda with veggie chips, trail mix, and we had to have a few treats-- each child got a heart shaped candy necklace (which is kind of more fun to wear than eat anyway) and a box of Sweethearts candy.   My daughter rarely gets soda so she was living it up as you can tell from her red mustache! I also kept some juice boxes on hand so they had a healthy alternative after some soda.   From the food to the decor to the craft, this was a play date the kids won't soon forget!
