The end of the school year is hectic and exhausting for teachers and students, both! But it is so important to end the year strong and with a celebration of our time together. This school year, I had a student that would reply to a direction given with the response, “Aye! Aye! Captain Peare!” This was a daily joke in our classroom that every student joined in on. I really wanted to tie this into an end of the year celebration that not only the students will remember, but so will I.

We started off our celebration by creating adorable fabulous foam pirate frames. After students had decorated their frame, we added pictures for the last day of school. Students took these frames home as a little treasure to remember our amazing year together.
This craft was super easy to use thanks to the self-adhesive stickers! I used many of the stickers for decorations on the tables prior to completing the craft.
Next, it was time for a little educational review....shark style! Each table worked together to answer a question given by my para. The first team to answer the question correctly was then able to play the shark bean bag toss game. Students loved attempting to get the fish into the shark's mouth!
After lunch, it was time to enjoy pirate mix and a cute pirate movie together. My class is not use to watching movies in the classroom by any means, so this was a big treat!
We mixed the pirate mix snacks into our treasure boxes. The boxes were very sturdy and worked perfectly for students to move around the room. Don't worry, most of this mix was just popcorn and didn't contain any necklaces!
At the end of the day, we enjoyed pirate cupcakes. I bought the cupcakes at a local store, took of the rings off the top, and added pirate party cupcake wrappers and picks. My students thought I had spent a lot of time making the pirate cupcakes!
As an end of the year gift, students took home a pirate bag, treasure hunt activity pad, and under the sea gummy candies. Many of my students have very little at home, so I knew the activity pads and crayons would be loved. I wrote a goodbye letter to each student and placed it in a bottle. Students were so eager to read their messages!
