Whether you are planning for a door decorating contest or browsing ideas for your Dr. Seuss themed classroom, this Horton Hears a Who door decoration is the perfect addition to any classroom! All across the country, schools are kicking off National Reading Month by decorating their doors with various themes from their favorite children's stories and authors. This Horton Hears a Who door decoration is a great reminder that "A person's a person no matter how small!"
I used the front cover of Horton Hears a Who as inspiration for my Dr. Seuss themed door decoration. I started designing my door on a Fadeless® Art Paper Roll in white. After sketching out my drawing, I used Crayola® No Drip Paintbrush Pens to trace each line and give my design bold, defined lines. Cover your door using a Pacon® Fadeless® Deep Purple Bulletin Board Paper Roll. Be sure to cut out a hole for your door handle!
Adhere Horton to your classroom door with Mavalus® Multi-Purpose Adhesive Tape. I used Light Pink Tissue Pom-Pom Decorations to create a clover field at the bottom of my classroom door. I recommend using hot glue to adhere these to your classroom door to prevent them from falling off.
Create this DIY pink clover using a Pink Tulle Pom-Pom Decoration and a Green Chevron Paper Straw. Simply cut down both ends of the pink tulle pom-pom to about 2 inches on each side and fan out. Cut a green chevron paper straw to the proper length and adhere both pieces to your classroom door using hot glue.
Add a special message to your door using the Dr. Seuss® a Person's a Person Banner. I decorated the rest of my door using Jumbo Flower Shapes and a Paint Chip Circle in the middle of each foam flower. Make sure to see the Cat in the Hat Bulletin Board I made to help my students learn their vowels too!
