Celebrating the 100th Day of School is something that is traditionally done with primary grade students (Kindergarten through second grade). But why can't it be done with upper grade students, too?! Here are some cute and festive ideas to help celebrate the 100th Day of School with your upper grade students.
At any part of your day, have students participate in the fun 100th Day search card game. Students can work together or separately to find the right amount of each animal. If each number is correct, it should total up to be 100 animals. To extend this activity, you could divide students up into groups to conduct research on the animals pictured on the game. Students could create posters and prepare 100 facts about their animal based on the research they have done as a group.
Make the day fun and exciting by holding a special raffle for your 100th Day Treasure Box. Fill you treasure box with 100th Day Slap Bracelets, 100th Day Stickers, 100th Day Rubber Duckies, and 100th Day Pencils. Use special raffle tickets and hand them out to your students throughout the day when you notice them following behavior expectations. You can pull tickets throughout the whole day and have winners choose prizes from this very special treasure box of 100th day prizes. You could even let your students know that your goal is to pull 100 tickets by the end of the day, ensuring that some students can get more than one prize!
Have your students reflect on their learning that took place over the past 100 days. Students can think about the friendships they've made, the experiences they've had, and the many things and skills they have learned over the last 100 days. Have students create a 100th-day writing piece to share what they've experienced as an upper grader over the past 100 days - download the free printable. Display their writing with a fun 100th Day Bulletin Board and show others what your students have accomplished. Click here to see more 100th Day Writing Projects in my Teachers Pay Teachers Store.
Enjoy the 100th day of school with your upper-grade students and reflect on all that you've all accomplished together!
