Individual STEAM Kits are a great way to allow students the ability to be creative and engage in hands-on learning in the classroom. STEAM kits can be used for morning tubs, brain breaks, or even recess. Sneak in extra learning by downloading the free spring themed STEAM cards and labels here. Your students will love to review common spring standards including 2D shapes and 3D shapes while getting a chance to practice their designing and problem solving skills.

Print out the free download printable labels on white card stock and laminate for durability. To keep the STEAM Kits very organized, I like to label both containers. Attach the larger label to the top of the Small Plastic Containers using a glue dot or tape. Label the black Mini-Storage Tubs using the smaller label.

Download the free individual STEAM cards. These cards include popular themes or standards that are taught in the spring such as plants, insects, butterflies, frogs, 2D shapes, and 3D shapes. Print the cards of your choice on white card stock and laminate for durability. Store in the cards in the labeled Small Plastic Containers.

I like to keep the building materials included in the STEAM kits simple. I have found that the fewer options my students have, the more creative students have to be!
Our STEAM kits include Black Googly Eyes, Rainbow Craft Sticks, Chenille Stems, Tiny Pom-Poms, and Crayola Dough. All of these items are cost effective and can be used over and over.

Students can easily grab their Mini-Storage Tubs and move to their area. The tubs are the perfect size to store on a counter or at students desk. I have found that STEAM Kits stay more organized if the container is not too big. The larger the container, the easier it is to store items that should be discarded.

Now the kits are ready to go! Sit back and watch your students get creative while practicing critical thinking skills. If a student needs a challenge, encourage them to create the item in as many different ways as possible. Have students discuss which design worked the best and why. How could the design be made better? The options are endless!
