Put the worksheets aside for the 100th Day of School and celebrate with these five fun STEM centers! Not only will each activity encourage students to use their imagination, be innovative, and work collaboratively with their classmates, they will also make planning and set up easy for teachers! These activities are best set as centers so students have plenty of time to explore and create throughout the entire day. Once all activities are completed, students will receive a STEM-themed 100th Day Certificate for all their hard work! Be sure to download the certificate in either black & white or color for your classroom!
For the first center, students will work in small groups to build a freestanding school building that is as a tall as a yardstick using 100 Keva Planks. Encourage students to brainstorm and then draw out their plan together before constructing. Once time is up, students will measure and compare the height of their school building to a yardstick to see if they have successfully accomplished the task! The team's design that is closest to the height of the yardstick or is the highest in the class will win!
Navigate through the 100th Day of School with these fun tunnel cards! Students will build a tunnel using 100 Tunnel Time Game Cards, from the set of 272 cards, for their Wind-Up Robots to go through! The possibilities are endless and with so many cards to use and engineer with, students will have the best time collaborating and thinking creatively from start to finish!
What better way to celebrate 100 days of school than on a 100-square grid from the Junior Architect Blocks and Plan Set? Students can create their one-of-a-kind design or use the pre-made instruction cards to build robots, animals, and various different shapes on a 100-square grid. This extensive set comes with sturdy laminated grid cards, prompt cards, and ultra-durable plastic blocks that students can build with a partner or individually! After students get through with this center, they will definitely ask you to do it again and again throughout the year!
Need a challenging center to keep students revising and improving their plan? The Q-BA-MAZE Spectrum Building Blocks Set is perfect to use as a center! Using only 100 of the set's 120 colorful and interlocking cubes, students will work together to design a maze for a marble to go through! This activity will definitely require some teamwork, patience, and creative thinking!
Last but not least, let the kids monkey around just a bit by having them build a jungle for some friendly monkeys using 100 pieces from the Learning Resources® Gears! Gears! Gears! Movin' Monkeys Building Set! Students can build from the picture on the box or engineer their own design! The designs are endless and will definitely get your kids to go bananas for the 100th Day of School!
Once students have completed all five STEM centers, celebrate as a class and present each student with one of these FREE STEM-themed 100th Day Smarter Certificates! This files comes in black and white or color!
