Watermelon Sea Glass Recipe

Ingredients

2 c. White Sugar
2/3 c. Light Corn Syrup
3/4 c. Water
1 t. Watermelon Candy Flavoring
Blue Gel Food Coloring
Powdered Sugar

Step 1

Place saucepan on stove. Add 2 cups white sugar, 2/3 cup light corn syrup and 3/4 cup water. Mix in saucepan to combine ingredients.

Step 2

Stir over medium heat until all the sugar dissolves. Place a candy thermometer into the pan and bring the mixture to a boil.

Step 3

When the mixture reaches 260℉, add the blue food coloring. I added 3-4 drops. Keep in mind that later when you add the watermelon flavor oil it will alter the shade of blue slightly. You can always add more blue gel food coloring later to get your desired shade. Continue to boil until the mixture reaches 300℉.

Step 4

Remove mixture from the stove and allow to cool on a hot pad. Add 1 teaspoon of the watermelon flavor oils. Fold in the flavoring oil. Add more blue gel food coloring to adjust color if need be.

Step 5

Allow the mixture to cool for 15 minutes. Pour the mixture onto a greased pan. Use a spatula to spread mixture into a large circle. Make it as thin or thick as you like. You can take a wooden skewer to gently pop any air bubbles you see. Work fast though or the mixture becomes super sticky!

Step 6

Once the candy is cool to the touch, sprinkle powdered sugar over it. Spread the sugar over the top of the sea glass. The powdered sugar gives the glass a frosted appearance.

Step 7

Lightly tap the sea glass with the end of a butter knife to break it into smaller pieces.

Step 8

Take the small clear treat bags and fill with watermelon sea glass candy! Fold down the bags and seal the bag with a clear piece of tape. Add a sea creature self-adhesive shape to the front of the bags. How cute are these!?
