Ingredients
- 1 c. Salted Butter, Softened
- 1 c. Sugar
- 2 t. Baking Powder
- 1 t. Vanilla Extract
- 1 Egg
- 3 c. Unbleached Flour
- Yellow Food Coloring
- White Decorating Frosting
- Candy Dots
- Dots
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 ℉. Grease a cookie sheet and set aside.
Step 2
In a medium bowl, cream butter, sugar, vanilla, and yellow food coloring together. Add enough drops of food coloring to achieve a bright yellow cookie dough.
Step 3
Beat in egg until combined. Add flour in three additions. Mixing with each cup you add.
Step 4
Wrap dough in plastic wrap and chill for 30 minutes.
Step 5
Sprinkle cutting board with flour.
Step 6
Roll dough ½ inch thick and use round cookie cutter to cut out circles.
Step 7
Place cookies on baking sheet and bake for 7-8 minutes. Allow cookies to cool.
Step 8
Once the cookies have cooled, use the frosting can to put a pretty border around the outer edge of the cookie.
Step 9
Sprinkle the bright candy dots over the frosting border for the rim of the sombrero.

Step 10
Place a small dot of frosting on the bottom of a gum dot and place in the center of each sombrero.
