- 1 c. Sugar
- 1/2 Tbsp. Cornstarch
- 2/3 c. Corn Syrup
- 1 Tbsp. Butter
- 1/2 c. Water
- 1/2 t. Salt
- 3/4 t. Peppermint Extract
- Blue Food Coloring

Grab a medium saucepan and combine the sugar and cornstarch.

Over medium heat, add in the corn syrup, butter and water and bring to a boil. Boil until you have reached a temperature of 250 degrees. Make sure not to over boil; this could change the consistency of the taffy.

Remove saucepan from the heat and add in the salt, peppermint extract and food coloring.

Grease the baking sheet with non-stick cooking spray and then pour the liquid taffy onto the sheet. Let it cool enough so you are able to handle it.

Here comes your work out! Pick up the taffy and pull it for about 10-15 minutes until it becomes lighter in color.

Once your taffy has reached the desired color and consistency, pull and twist it creating a taffy rope that is approximately 3/4" thick.

Lay the taffy rope on a sheet of wax paper and then cut into 1 1/2" long pieces.

Cut additional wax paper into 4" x4" squares and wrap the newly cut taffy. We put the taffy in our DIY Nautical Salt Water Taffy Favor Bags, so each guest could enjoy a beachy treat after the evening came to an end!

This peppermint salt water taffy was a huge hit at our recent Nantucket Inspired Wedding!
