- 1 C. Granulated Sugar
- 3/4 C. plus 2 Tbsp. Flour
- 1/3 C. Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
- 1 t. Baking Powder
- 3/4 t. Baking Soda
- 1/2 t. Salt
- 1/3 C. Canola Oil
- 1/2 C. Milk
- 1 Egg Lightly Beaten
- 1 t. Vanilla Extract
- 1/2 C. Hot Coffee
- 1 C. Graham Cracker Crumbs
- Black Decorating Gel
- 1 Can Vanilla Frosting

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Place the cupcake liners into your muffin tin and set aside. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the sugar, flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda and salt.

Add in the oil, milk and vanilla extract. Stir to combine.

Add in the egg and stir.

Next, add the hot coffee and carefully stir until combined.

Fill each cupcake liner 2/3 full with the batter and bake for 20-23 minutes. Remove the cupcakes from the oven and allow to completely cool.

Place each cooled cupcake into a Pirate Party Cupcake Wrapper and then inside a Pirate Pail. Top each cupcake with a swirl of vanilla frosting.

Take the black decorating gel and make a few small dash marks and an X on the front portion of the frosting to mimic a treasure map.

Take a pinch of Graham cracker crumbs, or “pirate sand” and sprinkle over top of the frosting.

Place a Pirate Party Cupcake Pick into the back, center of the cupcake and a Gold Chocolate Coin into the frosting so it stands on its own and your cupcake is complete!
