There are two methods you can use to make newspaper watercolor flowers; first, use scissors to cut out a variety of wavy circles. The different sizes will allow you to layer the flowers. The second method would be to use scalloped circle punches; punch out a handful of scalloped circles and butterflies using the punches. Punch or cut the circles from the "words" on the newspaper rather than photos.
Watercolor paint the newspaper cutouts. My girls used multiple colors on each flower circle. We just love how the colors bleed together! You can choose to paint the newspaper circles solid colors as well. One of the scalloped circles Ella painted the edges of and by accident a heart shape formed in the center. She filled the center in with pink to make the heart stand out!
Let the newspaper cutouts dry. Next gently crinkle the newspaper to give the flower petals texture and volume.
