Use a spray paint primer to cover an unfinished wood sign. Once dry, paint over the white sign with a warm white acrylic paint. With a foam paint brush, paint the palm of your child's hand with brown tempura paint (palm of hand only). Press down firmly on the sign. Repeat with each child.
To make the craft a little more fun, we used the fun smelling washable paint from Crayola! Paint each finger a different color and line them up with the palm of the hand you already pressed onto the sign. Carefully press the painted fingers onto each hand print.
With a small paint brush add the turkey's wattle and beak with red and orange Crayola paint.
After the paint has dried, use glitter glue in each color to add some sparkle to each fingerprint! With a hot glue gun, add the mini googly eyes to each turkey's face.
The glittery self adhesive foam letters were easy to apply and the perfect fit for our sign! Simply peel and stick each letter. The pack comes with variety of colors, so each child and choose a different color. Ella and Annie wrote out "Give Thanks" on their sign.
We used gold twine to hang our keepsake signs. Thread the gold twine with pony beads before tying into place through the holes on the sign. Glue colorful turkey feathers to the sign to finish it off! If you like, have the kids write one thing with a sharpie that they are thankful for on each finger. Each year you will love hanging this special sign and one day you will pass it on to your kids!
