In a glass vase, empty the contents of one package of plastic water beads and fill with water. Let sit for appx 2 hours until beads grow to about eight times the original size.

Fill your mason jar about 2/3 full with water beads and top off with water.

Remove your tulip start from the packaging and rinse off all the dirt on the bulb and roots. Place your bulb into the mason jar so that just the roots are down into the water. You do not want to submerge the whole bulb or it will begin to rot.

To dress up your jar, cut a piece of grosgrain ribbon the diameter of your jar and secure with tape or glue.

Place your jars outside or in a sunny window until you’re ready to give them to guests.

I guarantee these will be a hit with your guests. While we can all go out and buy a bunch of tulips at the grocery store, these forced bulbs are a way to watch them grow. These bulbs also make fun, inexpensive teacher or hostess gifts. If you’re looking for a cute DIY be sure to check out my DIY Ceramic Boot Planters and my whole Spring in Bloom Brunch!
