
Using a paintbrush, paint the DIY slat sign white using some acrylic paint. Then set aside and let dry. I wanted my sign to look a little more weathered so I did a couple light layers of white paint. You can do heavier layers depending on the look you want.

Download the Free Hello Summer Template Printable here! Take the Free Printable “Hello Summer” Template, and flip it upside down. Using a pencil, rub the lead on the back of the paper over the letters. You are making your own carbon copy to help you trace the letters onto the DIY Slat Sign. You could also free-hand paint this if you are up to that.

Place the Free Printable “Hello Summer” template right side up and put the words where you want them. You can cut them apart and place them on the DIY slat sign. Take the end of a paintbrush, or dull pointed pencil, and trace the letters so the lead rubbing appears on the white painted slat sign. This will give you a guideline of where to paint.



Now comes the fun part by adding color! I love bright color for summer, so I chose to use a bunch of fun ones for this sign.
