
Start by mixing your colors. In order to keep the colors consistant, you want to mix enough paint of each color the first time since it's almost impossible to remix the same hue in case you run out of paint. Use the Liquitex Acrylic paint to create a variety of pretty colors.

In your rectangular paint palette, mix the colors together. Here I used a squirt of white and blue in each. Then I added a squirt of purple into one of the sections.

Keep mixing colors in your palette. I used a small squirt of white in each color to create a bright, pastel palette.

Paint your starfish.

Paint the shells you are going to use. Pick a nice variety from the Mega Seashell Assortment.

After the base color has dried, paint on geometric patterns with a contrasting color. Do polka dots, stripes, zig zags, and color blocking on each of the shells. Let the geometric patterns dry.

This is an example of a color blocked starfish. Paint a complimentary color in the center of the starfish. Then add a few stripes on the arms.



Hot glue wooden sticks to the back of the seashells.

Arrange the funky paintes seashells in a group on the top of your cake. Put the smaller shells in the front and the larger ones higher in the back.
