You will need two orange foam pumpkins to make a spider and bat fingerprint pumpkin.
Start by painting each pumpkin white with white craft paint or spray paint. Paint the stem on each one gold with a paintbrush. Let dry.

Pour some black paint onto a paper plate or paint palette. Dip the child's thumb or finger into the black paint.
Lightly press the thumb with the paint onto a dry section of the paper plate. This will remove some of the extra paint before putting it on the pumpkin.

Carefully press the child's thumb onto a blank spot on the pumpkin. Older children can do this themselves, while younger children will need help pressing their thumb on the pumpkin and keeping it from moving.
Remove the thumb to reveal a round black dot.

Repeat until the pumpkin is filled with black fingerprints that are evenly spaced. Repeat with the second pumpkin, then let dry completely.

To make the spider pumpkin, the child can use a black Sharpie® to add eight legs to each fingerprint to make a spider.

To make the bat pumpkin, the child can use a black Sharpie to add bat wings to each fingerprint to make a bat. Have your kids find a fun place to show off their pumpkin!
