I took the skeeball mat and binder clipped it to my easel. It has to be hung up where part of the bottom is dragging the ground. That is the ramp that that ball rolls up. Once it was set up we were ready to go!
The students begin by each team rolling the dice. These dice are perfect for little hands. They are the perfect amount of weight that they will roll but not go flying across the room. The kiddos have to roll the dice, the number they roll is how many turns they have to roll the skeeball. This kiddo rolled a three, so he got to play three times. Then the other team got to roll.
Once they roll the dice and have determined how many rolls of the skeeball they get, it is time to play. They roll their skeeball up the ramp and try to get it in the mesh pockets. If it lands in a pocket they get to write the points they earned (based off the pocket that they landed in).
After both teams have rolled, it is time to add up the score. They can either do addition to add in the tens place. Or they can count on by tens. That is what we did to help strengthen of knowledge of tens. The kids loved playing this skeeball game and they were begging me for it the next day!
