Get your snow dough ready. If you’ve never made play dough before, I highly recommend it. It’s way easier than you think and the play dough comes out so much better than the store bought kind. Here is my best play dough recipe. Just leave the food coloring out and instead, add a heaping tablespoon of iridescent glitter and mix it through. Once you have your snow dough ready, push a nice amount into the jar to fill it up.
Make a little winter friend to go on top of your snow dough jar. We decided to make snowmen for our tops, which are super easy. Take your air dry clay and roll it into three balls; small, medium and large. Stack the balls on top of each other. Use different odds and ends to bring your snowman to life. Push them in real good so they don’t fall off your snowman. If they do, you can add a little glue to hold them on tight. I cut up an orange pipe cleaner for a carrot nose and passed around all the little pieces during art class. We also used blue rhinestones for the front and fun googly eyes!
Let your clay dry overnight and then glue it onto your cap. You can put white glue around the snowman too and then sprinkle fake snow all around it. Fake snow is super fun and really looks like snow. I love this stuff for all kinds of winter art projects for kids. When everything dries you are ready to screw the cap onto your snow dough jar and give it to a friend.
Enjoy your snowman creation! Have fun and happy winter! xo, Meri Cherry
