begin by downloading the Free Watercolor Lavender Printable Art here! Cut it down to size. The DIY Unfinished Wood Frame with Galvanized Metal has an 8x8 opening, so I cut my printable down to fit that.

To make this DIY Unfinished Wood Frame look more rustic, we layered on paint colors using different brushes and techniques. Begin with a base coat of white paint, using a sponge brush. I will sometimes use a dark brown or black too, but for this project I wanted it to be a little lighter.

After the white paint dries, use the gray paint as the main color. Grab a good slightly stiff paint brush and dry brush the paint on. Make sure not to apply the pain to thick but just enough to give it some texture. This gives the illusion of being weathered. If you want to add more depth, like I did, you can use a dark color on the edges. I used some black to get the effect that I wanted. You could also sand the edges at this point if you wanted to.

Attach the Free Watercolor Lavender Print to the DIY Unfinished Wood Frame with Galvanized Metal with a small magnet glued to a mini clothespin. The clothespin just makes it look even more rustic. I love that little detail. Now your DIY Rustic Wood Painted Magnet Board is complete with a beautiful picture.
