Use a plastic fork to wrap the baker's twine around 70 times, being careful not to let the string slide off the end of the fork. Trim the string from the twine roll.

Cut a second piece of string around 10 inches long and wrap it across the middle of the pom-pom. Pull the ends of the string through the fork tines as shown. Pull taut around the pom-pom and tie in a double knot.

Slide the pom-pom off of the fork and wrap the string around to the opposite side of the pom-pom. Tie in another double-knot to secure.

Use a pair of scissors to cut through all of the pom-pom loops. Continue cutting and trimming until you have a nice round pom-pom. Hold onto the two ends of the string wrapped around the middle of the pom-pom while cutting. You'll want to keep these two long strings for the next step. You can fluff up the pom-pom to cover the middle string as needed.

Use a hole punch to make a hole at the top of a rainbow bookmark. Run the two long strings of the pom-pom through the hole and tie in a double knot. Trim the excess string.

You can also make easy pencil toppers by trimming the long string from the pom-pom and adding to the top of a pencil with a dab of hot glue. These rainbow pencils make a fun pairing with the pom-pom toppers!

Whip up a bunch of baker's twine pom-poms for a colorful mix of bookmarks and pencil toppers! These would make for fun teacher's gifts or school favors.
