Choose a piece of patterned paper from your Christmas/Winter paper pack to create your 3D snowflake craft. Use a paper cutter to cut your paper in half to make it 6-inches by 12-inches in length.

Fold your scrapbook paper in half. Then fold your paper in half again two more times. Unfold your paper to reveal the evenly spaces creases. This is a guide to help you fold and put together your medallion snowflake craft.

Fold your scrapbook paper with an accordion fold using the folded creases as a guide. When you are finished folding your paper you should have a patterned section on both the top and bottom.

Use a stapler to place a staple in the center of your accordion folded scrapbook paper. I found it helpful to fold the paper bunch in half and then unfold it to find the middle line of the paper.

Use a pair of sturdy scissors to cut designs along the seams and ends of your folded scrapbook paper. Using the staple in the center of your paper as a guide, cut out shapes on one side of the snowflake. Triangles are easiest for children to cut out but you can also try half circles and squares. When you are finished designing one half of the snowflake, copy the same design on the other half of your snowflake. Children can also use a pencil to draw a design on their snowflake before cutting it out.

Once you have the design cut out, carefully separate the pleats of the medallion. Connect the separate ends of the medallion together and place a staple in them to secure them together. You could also use a piece of clear tape to connect the ends together.

Have fun decorating with rainbow glitter, Christmas and winter pom-poms, winter glitter in a jar, or sequins. To decorate with glitter, use a sponge brush to paint tacky glue on sections of the snowflake you want to add glitter. Place your snowflake on a white paper plate to catch any excess glitter. Shake the glitter on the sections of glue around the snowflake. You could also pour glitter on a white paper plate and dip the snowflakes in the glitter after applying the glue with a sponge brush.

To decorate your snowflake craft with winter pom-poms, add a dot of hot glue on a small pom-pom. Then place the pom-pom on your snowflake.
Sequins and small snowflake embellishments can also be attached to your 3D snowflakes with tacky glue. Simply add tacky glue on the section of the snowflake you want to decorate and then pour a small amount of the sequins on the glue.

Allow the glue to dry completely on each of your snowflakes before handling them. When your glue has finished drying, decorate your home with your colorful 3D snowflakes.
