Choose a red paper plate or a blue paper plate for your patriotic suncatcher. Poke a hole in the center of the paper plate and cut around the inside perimeter of the paper plate, cutting out a circle.

Lay out a piece of clear contact paper. Place both circle pieces from the paper plate on the contact paper and use a black marker to trace both circles. Cut out the larger circle. Then cut out the smaller circle a bit larger than the outline you traced.

Peel the backing off the smaller circle of contact paper. Place the contact paper on the front of the paper plate in the center (sticky side down), and use your fingers to press and adhere the edges of the contact paper to the paper plate.

Turn the paper plate upside down and place a small, silver metallic star in the center of the plate onto the sticky contact paper.

Pour a small amount of red confetti, blue confetti and white confetti on a paper plate. Sprinkle the confetti colors on the back of the paper plate around the silver metallic star. When you are finished covering the empty spots around the silver star, pat the confetti down slightly to help it stick to the contact paper.

Peel the backing off the larger circle of contact paper. Place the contact paper on the back of the paper plate in the center (sticky side down), and use your fingers to press and adhere the edges of the contact paper around the rim of the paper plate.

Turn your paper plate facing up to reveal your colorful patriotic suncatcher. Display the suncatcher craft in a window to admire the red, white and blue colors that shine through the contact paper.
