You will need to print, cut, fold, and glue each of the six Scripture Countdown cards. You can download the Nativity Playset Christmas Countdown Scripture cards HERE. I recommend printing them on white cardstock for extra durability.

Use a permanent black marker to write the numbers 1-6 onto six of the Jesus is the Reason Ornaments. I wrote the number in the center of the snowflake on each ornament.

Wrap each Scripture Countdown Card and corresponding Nativity Playset piece or pieces into a Medium Kraft Paper Gift Bag with red or white tissue paper. Tie the matching number ornament to the front of the bag so that your kids will know what order to open up the gifts.

As a family, unwrap each of the six gift bags in order: (1) Jesus (explain that we start with Jesus because He is the reason we celebrate Christmas, and then the rest of the days we will learn about the Christmas story through the other pieces of the Nativity), (2) Mary, (3) Joseph, (4) Bethlehem (stable and trees pieces), (5) Shepherds (sheep piece), (6) Wise Men (camel piece.) You can do 1-2 bags a week leading up to Christmas. Read the corresponding verses on the Scripture Countdown Card, add the piece to the nativity, and discuss the true meaning of Christmas! Then, keep the Nativity Playset up throughout the Christmas season as a reminder of the gift of Jesus and to allow your kids to play with it.
