Bake the cupcakes according to the directions on the cake mix box. I like to bake mine in polka dot baking cups, but you can use any kind of cupcake liner.

Frost the cupcakes with cream cheese frosting.

Use a clean pair of kitchen scissors and make a small snip in the middle of several mini marshmallow.

Use the clean kitchen scissors to make another snip in the opposite direction, creating an "x" on top of the marshmallow. This will create the look of a "popped kernel."

Start placing the marshmallow popcorn kernels on the cupcake. Vary the pattern of the yellow and white marshmallows to create the look of buttered popcorn.

Download and print the free Movie Popcorn Cupcake Wrappers and cut them out.

Wrap the popcorn cupcake wrappers around the cupcake and secure with a piece of tape or glue dots.
We made these cupcakes for our Dive-In Outdoor Movie Party! See how we set up the party here. Don't miss out on how to make your own Movie Ticket Photo Booth and Movie Candy Tray either.
