Pick out two mittens that are the same color and use glue dots to add the embellishments from the craft kit.
Decorate two of the same color mittens exactly alike.
Continue decorating the mittens until you have decorated all of them.
I wanted this to be a fun learning activity too, so I made some mittens that would require the kids to count the dots to make sure they matched. You can see that some mittens are very similar, but one or two things are slightly different, like the number of dots.
The wreath craft kit came with some white glitter and I decided to make the clothespins extra fancy. Spread some of the Elmer’s craftbond glue on the top of the clothespin.
Sprinkle the white glitter on top of the glue, set aside to dry.
Hang the silver baker’s twine up to create your clothesline and fill a bucket up with all the mittens. Have the kids race to see who can match up the most mittens and hang them on the clothesline.
This is a fun way to keep kids entertained on a dreary and cold afternoon this winter. They will love a healthy dose of competition and probably won’t even realize that they are using their matching and problem solving skills.
