Before painting, gather white tempera paint for the moon as well purple, blue, or turquoise paint for the rest of the sky. You'll also need to cut white construction paper to an 11x11 inch square.

Start by painting a circular moon with white tempera paint and a paintbrush. Use another color of paint like purple, blue or turquoise to paint circle around the white moon. Make sure to mix the white paint with the other color so you'll have a lighter color around the moon. This will depict the moon's light on the sky.

Using blue, turquoise or purple paint, continue to paint the sky in a circular motion. The sky should get darker and your paint should have less and less white in it the closer you get to the edge of the page.

By the time you're done painting, you should have a night sky with a full moon!

Now you're ready for inserting your Haunted House, or any other object to your moonlit sky. If you choose to print a haunted house, print it out on white paper and then copy it onto yellow construction paper.

Now let's decorate our night sky! You can cut out and attach the Free Haunted House Printable here, or you can choose from these fun additional crafts to put on top of your night sky: Magic Color Scratch Bats, Color Your Own Fuzzy Halloween Magnets, or a Ghoul Gang Magnet Kit. You can also incorporate a fun writing activity by asking your students to sell a haunted house.
