Use a pencil and measuring tape to divide a DIY Flower Box Centerpiece into 2” sections. The easiest way to do this is to measure every two inches vertically and draw lines using a ruler. Next, measure every two inches diagonally and draw those lines again, using a ruler.

Use a pencil to lightly label the colors you will be painting each section. Trust me, this will help you not paint the wrong color in the wrong box. Navy and silver for Ravenclaw, burgundy and gold for Gryffindor, gray and dark green for Slytherin and yellow and black for Hufflepuff. We just put the first letter of the color in the box to use as a guide. Next, tape off the sections using colorful masking tape. Use a flat-bristled paint brush and acrylic paint to paint the taped off sections. Once the paint is dry, remove the tape and tape off the other sections. Using tape to section off the blocks helps create crisp, clean lines.

Use hot glue to adhere the end of jute cording to the inside of an embroidery hoop and wrap the jute around the bottom of the hoop. Hot glue the end of the cording to the hoop to secure in place. Repeat for the remaining hoops.

Wrap the dowels with thin washi tape and paint the dowel with acrylic paint and a flat-bristled paintbrush making sure to paint the washi tape. Once the paint is dry, remove the tape to reveal the gold stripe underneath.

Add a drop of hot glue to the end of the painted dowels and poke them into Bottle Corks. We sharpened the end of our dowel using a pencil sharpener to make poking it through the cork easier. Hot glue the cork into the bottle to secure in place.

Use hot glue to glue the hoops onto the top of the wooden dowels.
