Begin by preparing the DIY ceramic vase or any DIY ceramic item of your choosing. Wipe away any dust with a soft cloth, then paint the entire exterior of the ceramic vase with white acrylic paint and a wide paintbrush.

Use a narrow paint brush to paint a thin blue line across the ceramic vase, creating a center for the vine.

Once you have determined two colors to use, with paint on the brush, press down to flatten the brush, creating a leaf pattern. Repeat this leaf pattern, alternating sides, until you complete a vine. Allow the paint to dry for about a minute before moving on to the next step.

Create more vines using the same method, using various curves to create the sculptural look seen here. Or, design your own unique pattern using this layering technique. This would also be beautiful in black and white, or in a variety of color schemes. Fill with flowers, or use each vase as a holder for a bridesmaid bouquet.
