To prepare the relay race, you will need to get two sets of the Fruit Balancing Game. On each set use a black Sharpie marker to write "The Fruit of the Spirit" and "Galatians 5:22-23" on the large watermelon and then write each of Fruits of the Spirit on the nine fruit in each game (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.)

Cut out and tape the "Fruit of the Spirit Game" label (download the free printable HERE) to two Bushel Baskets (I got two sets and used the smallest basket in each, but you could get one set and just have two different size baskets). Put each set of the marked Fruit of the Spirit Balancing Game into a Bushel Basket. Divide your students into two teams. Line up each team on one side of the room and put the team's basket across from the team on the other side of the room. When you tell the teams to start, each team will race down to the bucket, grab one piece of fruit, and bring it back to their team.

When a team has all of their fruit, they will work together to get the fruit to balance on top of the watermelon. This part will put some of the fruit of the spirit, like gentleness and patience, into action!

The first team to get all of the fruit to balance on the watermelon and say Galatians 5:22-23 by memory wins the game! You can hand out these adorable Mini Fruit Erasers as a prize for their hard work! For more activities for your Bible lesson on Galatians 5:22-23, read my full Fruit of the Spirit Lesson Plans.
