Grab one of our plastic tablecloths to cover your work surface. I use them every time we do a craft!
Have your kids choose a light colored piece of construction paper (light blue, green, light pink, yellow all work well with the paint) and fold in half, lengthwise to make your card. Use a paper plate to put the finger paint on. Isn’t the paint pretty?!

Using another paper plate punch out a couple sheets of the Spring garden foam shapes for them to decorate with. OK, here we go! I had each of my kids wear an apron because finger painting can get messy! (it makes for cute photos though ? )

To recreate our Mother’s day card, start my adding the Spring garden foam shapes. For flowers, with a finger of paint find where you want the center to be. Then, with another color, create the flower petals. For butterflies, place two finger prints side-by-side, forming a “v” type shape. Use a black sharpie to draw in butterfly antennas. Once the paint has dried, cut a couple small pieces of green chenille stem and glue them below your fingerprint flowers.

Every card will be special and unique, depending on the age of your child. You can’t go wrong. Their finger painting will create a beautiful card to save for years to come. Don’t forget to make one for Grandma or Auntie! I hope I have inspired you to get creative and messy with your kiddos and most important have fun. Check out my other Spring crafts; Spring bug magnets, bunny canvas art, and my easy paper flowers you can make and add to your Mother’s day gifts! Happy Spring!
