First you are going to create handmade pot holders with a special message for dad. There are several ways you can do this, depending on the age of your kids. You can let the kids draw on the canvas pot holder with fabric markers. They can draw a colorful picture for dad or write a sweet note or message.

I love a gift that immortalizes my kids tiny little handprints, so we made a few pot holders with their handprints. Let the kids choose their favorite paint color and pour it into a paint tray for easy access. Paint your child’s hand with a liberal amount of paint.

Carefully place your child’s hand on the canvas pot holder and firmly press down.

Gently remove their hand to reveal the handprint.

Once the handprint is dry, let them sign their name or write a sweet message to dad with the fabric markers. Don’t forget to include the year!

Let the kids use the fabric markers to personalize a can cooler for dad.

Now that you have lots of personalized, handmade gifts from the kids, it’s time to put everything together for dad’s grilling caddy. We filled our caddy with dad’s favorite drink, homemade spicy chipotle BBQ sauce, BBQ rub, a new spatula and the handmade pot holder, can coolers and pennant flag.
