Get your bulletin board started with a few neutral fall borders. I like to layer mine together for a thicker border. Take a basic black and white border for your base and then layer the orange polka dot and burlap borders together. Line these up and staple, so they are all the same width. Add on a loop de loop border to the top to give your board a touch of whimsy.
Add a few yellow tissue paper fans the top of your board. I staple mine directly to the bulletin board, but if that's not an option for you, you could also use some Mavalus tape to hold them in place. Layer on a few fall paper leaves and orange paper fans.
Now you can incorporate a few of the folded paper leaves. These are the perfect touch for fall! I just love the shiny edges. Simply slip the ribbon off and staple into place on your board. In the center of your board at the top you can add one of the cute squirrel plates as well. When the holidays change, all you have to do is swap out your center plate. When it's time for Thanksgiving, the turkey plates work really well to instantly create a new look.
A generic message can last for months as you change out the work on your board. Something simple like "It's Fall Y'all" can last for a few months as you feature new art projects, crafts and activities. To create these words, download the FREE printable here! Use masking tape to place the letters on your board to get the spacing just right before stapling.
Add in sunflower cutouts and layer on some folded paper leaves or a fun squirrel plate to the corners of your board. This will help hide those corners and add some interest to your board.
Take a few wooden clothespins and add a felt sunflower to the top with a dab of hot glue. You could also change these out easily every few weeks to transition your board into Thanksgiving. I love the felt pumpkins or felt turkeys, either one would look great for Thanksgiving. These clothespins clip easily onto a burlap pennant banner. Use the clothespins to clip work or crafts to your board without staples.
A few of my favorite craft projects to decorate a fall board are the be kind sunflowers, the scarecrow, the paper bag turkey, the tissue paper turkey, festive fall corn, or the owl tissue paper craft. Choose whichever option fits your classroom the best or download the FREE writing prompt here and hang each students' answer on your bulletin board.
And just like that you're all set for the fall season in your classroom. You can easily change this board from one fall holiday to the next, whether with sunflowers, fall leaves, pumpkins or turkeys, the possibilities are endless. Happy fall y'all!
