Cut your cardstock into a rectangular shape. You’ll want to make sure that the notebook is small enough that your stapler will reach the middle. I cut out cardstock into 7.25 inch by 5.5 inch rectangles. Then cut up pieces of notebook paper into rectangles a quarter inch smaller (mine were 7 inches by 5.25 inches).

Fold your cardstock in half and fold your stack of paper in half. I used 5 sheets of notebook paper so that there are 10 sheets of paper in each notebook. Use your ruler to make sure the crease is flat.
Line up your notebook paper inside your cardstock and use two clips to secure the paper.

Flip over your stack of paper and staple right in the middle crease two times.

Use letter stickers to decorate your covers. If you find that your notebook keeps popping open, you can set it under a heavy book for a few minutes and it helps a lot. You can also use cute matching paperclips.
