Paint the wooden crates with white acrylic paint watered down. Add a few teaspoons of water to the paint to water it down. Apply paint to the crate with a sponge brush. Let the paint dry and then apply a second coat.

After the paint is dry, cut two pieces of scrap leather to 8 inches in length and 3/4 inch width. Adhere the ends of leather above the openings on either side of crate. I used E6000® Glue and secured using clothespins. Let dry and remove clothespins.

Fill the DIY Whitewashed Storage Crate with anything and everything!

The crates look great in my studio, holding some of my favorite crafting supplies like washi tape, pom poms, yarn and paint brushes. Mason jars fit perfectly inside the crates as well.
Be sure to check out the other Supply of the Month projects using a DIY Unfinished Wood Slat Crate.
