To begin, you must first create a layout. You won't be gluing anything in the first few steps, rather, you are placing the items to arrange them in a way that you can correct as you go. Starting at the bottom left corner of your cardboard backdrop, use seven or eight tropical leaves, and lay them end to end in a vertical direction that veers to the right as it extends up the length of the board.

Add large and medium palm fronds, and follow the same line, going vertically and veering right.

Continue the line of palm fronds vertically, veering to the right as in the step before. You can add as few or as many leaves as you like to create a minimalistic look, or a lush and decadent look.

Once the leaves are laid in place, (not glued), it's time to add the bamboo fans. The fans are laid atop the leaves in symmetrical angles. In total, nine fans were used to create this look, but you can use as few or as many as you like.

Now we've reached the step where your arrangement is glued in place. It's a good idea to snap a quick photo of your layout before you begin to disassemble it to glue the pieces in place. Begin with the first tropical leaves, followed by the two sizes of palm fronds, and lastly, the bamboo fans.

If you'd like a little touch glitz in your design, try tucking in a few gold tropical leaves in a random pattern. They really add an elegant touch to this pretty tropical wedding backdrop.
