Using a paint brush, apply red, white, and black acrylic paints to the DIY Unfinished Wood Heart Cutouts as desired. To recreate the look shown, paint three hearts black, three hearts red, two hearts white, and three hearts half red/half white. Allow to dry completely.

Once the paint has dried, it's time to add some pizzazz to the hearts! You can use a small paint brush for this, but for more control it's best to use permanent and chalk markers. Use a black permanent marker to create an "XOXO" pattern on the two-toned hearts. Use a chalk marker to create vertical stripes on the red hearts and swirly patterns on the black hearts. We used a paint brush with red acrylic paint to create imperfect dots on the white hearts, but you could use a red permanent marker for this if you prefer more precise circles. Let dry.

Spread the Gold Tassel Garland out on a flat, protected surface, and make sure that the tassels are separated evenly. Arrange the hearts where you would like to adhere them. Turn each heart over and, using a glue gun, add a dab of hot glue to each arch as shown.

Working quickly before the glue dries, adhere the hearts to the tassel rope until all of the hearts have been applied. Hang and enjoy!
