Start creating your glittering play doh favor by decorating your jars! Begin wrapping the pastel solid colors washi tape set around the circumference of the pint mason jar.

We wanted to add a glamorous feel to our unicorns, so we opted to spray paint them gold. You can also leave them as is if you’d prefer!
Note: Use these Mythical Horses in place of the unicorns to achieve a similar look.

Once the unicorn is fully dry, use a few dots of hot glue to secure the newly painted unicorn to the top of the jar lid. Hold in place for a few seconds until the glue sets.

Time to make the play doh! Start by mixing the flour, salt, cream of tartar and the canola oil together in a large bowl.

Bring 2 cups of water to a boil. You can bring your water to a boil on the stove or simply by microwaving. Begin adding the boiling water to the flour mixtures while stirring vigorously.

Once cool, knead the dough until it forms a smooth ball of play doh.

Add a few drops of food coloring until you have the desired color for each batch. We opted for pink, blue and purple.

Once the play doh has cooled a bit, add 2 tbsp of iridescent glitter to each batch and knead thoroughly until each batch is well mixed.

Form the play doh into small balls and place then inside the decorated jars.

Lastly, give these mystical and magical party favors to guests to enjoy! We loved displaying our favor jars at our recent Rainbow Unicorn Birthday Party! Be sure to check out our DIY Candy Wand Favors, DIY Centerpiece and our recipe for Unicorn Bark to make your party complete!
