First, separate the top and base of the Footed Cake Stand. Apply a layer of Black Chalkboard Paint to the entire base. Allow to dry fully.

Next, flip over the top of the cake stand so that the bottom is facing up. With a marker, draw a circle in the center of the stand. It might be helpful to use a bowl or protractor as a guide to ensure a uniform circle.

Next, to create the illusion of grass that is in the center of a race track, apply Green Acrylic Paint inside the entire circle. Allow the paint to dry.

While the green paint in drying, cut a series of small rectangles out of Painter's Tape. Apply these pieces of tape in a circle in the middle of the unpainted portion of the cake stand. These pieces of tape will represent the dashed lines of the "road" portion of the race track.

Then, paint the remaining underside portion of the Footed Cake Stand in Black Chalkboard Paint. Feel free to paint directly over the Painter's Tape. Allow chalkboard paint to dry fully.

Once completely dry, carefully peel off the Painter's Tape, revealing the clear dashed lines.

With a small paint brush, paint over the clear dashed lines with White Acrylic paint. Don't worry about overpainting into the black. Any white run off will not appear or be noticable when the cake stand is turned right-side up.

Now it's time to add some cars! Apply a small amount of hot glue to the bottom of each Die Cast Race Car and place them around the base of the cake stand, all driving in the same direction. Then screw together the top and base of the cake stand.

Flip the cake stand over so it is now right-side up. Then, apply hot glue to the tires of the cars and attach to the outer lanes of the race track. Make sure all of the cars are driving in the same direction.

Now it's time to fill your DIY Race Track Cake Stand with cupcakes or other goodies and display at the party! Also, be sure to download the FREE printable cupcake toppers!
