Use scissors to carefully cut the strings from the corners of the canvas backpack, as shown. Take care not to snip too closely!

At the open end of the backpack, use scissors again to cut through the strings and pull through, as shown. Discard the strings.

Add a generous amount of fiberfill stuffing to the interior of the pillow, being sure to push stuffing all the way into the corners for a nice, full look. Too little stuffing may result in a floppy pillow.

You may like to use stick pins like we did here, to close the end of the pillow securely in preparation for the next step. Just place them through the fabric in a nice straight line to hold the opening together.

Use hot glue to adhere the opening of the canvas pillow closed. It's a good idea to use a fine tip glue gun like this one, so that you can get very close to the seam.

Allow the glue to dry thoroughly and remove the pins. The seam is now securely closed. As an option, you can also run the pillow edge through a sewing machine, if you have one, but this is not necessary.

Decorate the pillows with assorted trims like ric rac and pom poms. We loved using this lace chair tie as a makeshift bow for this neutral colored throw pillow. It gives the design a bohemian styled appearance without adding a lot of competing color to the design.
