Unfold each tablecloth and lay it flat on a hard surface. One tablecloth at a time, starting from the short end and using the fold seam as a guide, cut one long strip from each tablecloth. Each strip should measure 12 to 13 inches wide and be as long as the length of the tablecloth. We used mint, light pink, yellow, lilac, and light blue tablecloths.

Use tape to secure the tablecloth strips to a 48 to 84-inch tension rod, overlapping each piece just a bit to create some transitional color. Tension rods can be found at most chain department stores in the window treatment section for just a few dollars.

Attach three wall-safe hooks to your wall following the package instructions. To make sure that the hooks are placed at the same height along the wall, use a ruler to measure the same distance between the ceiling and each hook before applying. Hang the rod on the hooks, then straighten out the tablecloths at the base of the wall and let them flow onto the floor.

Blow up the balloons in the Congrats Mylar Balloon Kit using the enclosed straw. When I was creating this DIY project, the balloon kit was only available in silver, so I spray painted it gold to match our party decor. The kit is now available in gold, so it saves you a step! If you prefer the silver balloons, you can get that kit here. Once the balloons are blown up, use tape to secure the straw tab to the back of the balloons.

Thread the string included in the balloon kit through the holes in each balloon to tie all of the balloons together, both at the top and bottom. Secure the strings to the wall on either side of the tablecloth backdrop. That's all there is to it!
