
Starting with the letter board, use masking tape or painters tape to tape off the lines for the flag. To get the lines evenly spaced I used a piece of the tape in between each row, then I removed that piece once I had the other line taped off so the white letter board was showing every other line.

Next, I taped off a 9 x 7 rectangle in the top left corner of the board. I used scissors to cut away the previously taped lines that were inside the rectangle.

Start painting in between the taped off lines with the red paint. You will need to let the first coat dry completely and then paint a second coat.

Next, paint the rectangle in the top left corner with the blue paint. Again, you will need to let the first coat dry and paint a second coat for full coverage.

Once the paint is dry, carefully remove the tape to reveal the flag design.

Use white star stickers, or use your Cricut and make white vinyl stars, to place in a random pattern on the blue rectangle.

Add a patriotic saying with the black letters that come with the letter board. Because I opted to paint my flag horizontally on the letter board (I tried it both ways and thought this way looked best). I wasn't able to use the grooves to insert the letters. Instead, I ended up using a small dab of hot glue to glue them to the board. The letters can easily be removed if you want to create a different saying and change things up throughout the month.
