For this project, you'll need 2, DIY Wood Plank Signs attached together. Get 2 wood shims cut to the same size as the back of the DIY Wood Plank Signs. Lay the shims across the back of the DIY Wood Plank Signs. Using pressure from your upper body, nail or staple the shims to the raised boards. Measure the nails or staples before using, to ensure that they won't go through to the front of the plank, but long enough to make it sturdy.

Once the DIY Wood Plank Signs are attached, you'll want to paint them with a crisp white paint. We love using sponge brushes for these sorts of projects. Let dry completely.

Using a ruler, measure out 3 in. sections and tape off with painters tape. It was helpful for us to add a little bit of navy blue paint at this point so we knew where the paint was supposed to go.

Paint the DIY Plank Signs with some navy blue acrylic paint. This acrylic paint set we got doesn't have navy in it, but all the other colors were perfect for the other projects we were doing. To get this perfect navy blue, I mixed the black and blue colors together until I got the navy I wanted. It's really easy, but make sure you mix a batch big enough for your project all at once. Let dry completely.

While the paint dries on the DIY Plank Signs, you can start painting the clothespins. We thought the silver painted clothespins added a fun element for our signs. All you'll need is some silver paint, which is included in our favorite acrylic paint set, and a sponge brush. Paint 3 clothespins and set aside to dry completely.

Once the DIY Painted Plank Sign is painted, you are read to attach the Silver Painted Clothes Pins using a hot glue gun.

Download the Free Printable "Let Your Dreams Set Sail" here and print off onto white cardstock. This print is an 11x17 print so you may have to send it to your favorite print or photo shop to be printed.
