First, cut a 12″ length of natural cording.
Fold the cording in half and tie a knot in the middle.
Cut about a 12″ length of striped ribbon. Ever wonder how to get perfectly flagged ribbon ends? It’s not as hard as you might think!
Fold your ribbon in half, fold the ends of the ribbon in half lengthwise and cut the ends at an angle. Hold the ribbon ends together and carefully hold a lighter to the ends for a few seconds. This will slightly melt the tips of the fibers together making sure that they do not fray and your ribbon ends stay beautiful.
Next, tie a length of 5mm wide ribbon around the middle of the striped folded ribbon and use the lighter method to seal the ribbon ends.
Use your trusty glue gun to glue the cording knot to the tied ribbon.
Lastly, glue a nautical charm to the rope knot.
There you have it! A handsome and unique boutonniere that will tie in beautifully to your nautical themed wedding. Create these for your groom and groomsmen, or keep it as a special addition to the groom's outfit to make him really stand out.
