Make the sailboat using the DIY wood sailboat kit. For the sail I wanted it to look more nautical, so I decided to add some gold stripes.

Using some washi tape I taped out lines on the sail, overlapping enough that it could stick to my work surface.

I then took the gold metallic paint marker and colored in all the places that weren’t covered in washi. This was super fun and went super quick!

Then I just peeled off the tape and put the boat together according to the directions. Super simple and turned out so darn cute!

The next thing to do is the wreath. Using the hot glue gun I started the jute cording and glued a piece down. Then begin wrapping, gluing every now and then to make sure that it all stayed in place.

When I got about 1/4 of the way around, I stopped and then started on the white natural cording and just went around until I felt like that was enough. I did that again but this time only doing a small portion with the jute until I got to where the top of my wreath was going to be. I added a loop on the back with the white cording and then kept wrapping with it, being sure to glue as I went so that I had a good sturdy loop to hang it with.

I wasn’t really precise, I kind of liked the natural, unsymmetrical look of it; but you totally could be. I had to overlap on some of it because the cording started going sideways and some wreath would be more covered than in other areas.
After it was all wrapped, I took the hot glue gun again and glued the top and the bottom of the boat to the wreath, and then hung it up!
