Download and print the Merwitch Skeleton Template. To transfer the template onto the DIY Unfinished Wood Mermaid Witch Silhouette Cutout, rub the back of the template with a pencil and loosely cut out the torso, head and tail sections. Don't forget to download the DIY Merwitch Skeleton Wreath Template here.

Arrange the templates onto the DIY Unfinished Wood Mermaid Witch Silhouette Cutout and trace over the image with a ballpoint pen or pencil using washi tape to hold the template in place.

Remove the template and use a small flat-bristled paint brush and acrylic paint to paint the traced skeleton, letting the previously painted white area show through. Once the paint is dry, apply Mod Podge® over the some of the painted areas. For our merwitch, we chose to glitter everything but left the skeleton part. While the Mod Podge® is still wet, sprinkle on American Crafts Moxy Chasing Rainbow Extra Fine Glitter or use glitter glue.

The easiest way to cut lots of ribbon round the same length all at once is to wrap the ribbon around a piece of cardboard half the length of the size you need. For this wreath, we wanted 10” lengths of ribbon, so we cut the cardboard to be 5” in length. Wrap until you have a bit of ribbon on it and use scissors to cut the ribbon all at once on one end of the cardboard. Voila! 10” lengths without a ton of measuring. What a time saver!

Once you are done cutting 10” lengths of tulle and ribbon, tie the lengths onto a 18-24" wire wreath form starting with the outer wires of the form and then working inward. Repeat until the entire form is full. We filled our wreath with all sorts of fun textured fabric and ribbon including: Purple Glitter Tulle, Black Webbed Ribbon, Turquoise Tulle, Black Sheer Ribbon, Black Tulle, Black Sparklet Glitter Ribbon, Burlap Ribbon, Purple Tulle, and satin ribbon in purple, black and light blue.

Hang your completed wreath on your front door to greet your Halloween guests and trick-or-treaters with a spooky splash!
