Start by layering the sand in your jar. There is no “technique” involved. Layer as many or as few colors of sand that you like. Gently tap the jar down on the table with each new color to level out the sand. You can also leave the sand at an angle. Make sure to leave room at the top to add your figurines and other fun goodies.

Once you have the sand layered in the jar you can begin to add the details to your terrarium.

We added some glittery pom poms on top of the sand to mimic pretty flowers. We then added the feather butterflies. The butterflies are attached to wire which makes it super easy to just stick them into the sand.

You can buy various jar sizes to create a diverse display of terrariums for your child’s room!
