I have found that the easiest way to make the holes in the gumballs is with a drill. Yep, that’s right – we are going to use power tools to make this garland! Place the gumball on a hard surface that can be drilled into. I like to use a scrap piece of wood. Carefully drill a hole into the gumball until it pierces through to the other side.

Continue drilling holes in the gumballs until you have enough to make your garland. I used about 75 gumballs.

Thread the twine through your needle and tie a knot at one end of the twine. Start stringing the colorful gumballs onto your twine, alternating colors and sizes to create the pattern you desire.

Once you have finished stringing all the gumballs on your twine, tie a knot at the other end.

Use safety pins to attach the gumball garland to the front of your sweet shoppe display. I made a big bright pink bow to attach to the center of the garland to hide the safety pin on the table.

I absolutely love how this simple DIY Gumball Garland came together, and it was the perfect addition to the over-the-top candy display at our Sweet Shoppe Birthday Party.
