Paint the inside of the DIY Wood Eggs with a metallic gold paint.

Press a sheet of gold foil inside the egg, spread it around with a paint brush and seal with modge podge. The foil doesn't need to be neat, the layered foil leaf look is perfect to look like the gold inside antique eggs.

Paint the outside of the egg a glossy red.

Cut the washi tape down the middle to create 2 thin strips. Wrap the washi tape around both of the egg pieces (top & bottom). 4 strips of tape will give you 8 stripes on the egg (first in halves and then in quarters). Align the tape on the top & bottom of the egg in the same position.

Next, have fun with gems! Decorate the strips of foil with gemstones and pearls. Space them out in a pattern or replicate a real Faberge egg. Then cover the egg (excluding the stones) with gloss varnish. Let the varnish dry and repeat this step. You now have a fabulous jeweled place card holder fit for royalty!

Once dry, fill the eggs with sweet treats. I chose reindeer noses, for their size and bright red color pop. Once filled, close the egg and tie on the favor tag from Jen T by Design with gold bakers twine.
The egg fits perfectly into the antler candle holders and sits upright on the place setting. These went beautifully with my Russian Fairytale Inspired Bridal Shower. Be sure to check out how to Create your own Vodka and Caviar Tasting Bar for the bridal shower and serve up Quick & Easy Blini, Smoked Salmon, and Caviar Hors-d'oeuvres.
