Start by cutting two pieces of cardboard approximately the size of the top and bottom openings of the paper lantern.

To make this piñata pull string style, cut several strips of Purple Curling Ribbon. Using the cardboard cut for the bottom, pierce a hole in the center. Thread a strand of ribbon through the hole and tie a knot to secure it in place. Next, using a hot glue gun, glue the remaining strips of ribbon to the bottom of the cardboard.

With the Red Paper Lantern unassembled, apply hot glue to the inside of the bottom hole. Push the cardboard with the ribbon facing toward through the lantern. The ribbon will be hanging from the bottom once assembled. Assemble the lantern.

Fold several lengths of Red Paper Streamers. Cut about 3/4 the way up to create fringe.

Starting from the bottom of the lantern, adhere rows of the streamers to the paper lantern with hot glue. Overlapping the fringe as you go, cover the whole lantern.

Print the Elmo Face template on White Cardstock. Cut out the shapes using scissors and apply them to the piñata with glue dots.
